Denmark: Growing popularity of payment by Dankort
0703
Since Danish bank card Dankort replaced the magnetic strip on its cards with a chip, retailers have started to replace old Dankort terminals with new ones. The chip technology is regarded as a safety measure for customers and appears to be a hit as more than one in three Dankort transactions are made with the chip card. Today Dankort has become the preferred means payment among Danes with an annual turnover of DKr 249bn (US$ 43.8bn EUR 33.43bn).
