Netherlands: Credit cards should avoid gambling sites

The Dutch Department of Justice has called on credit card companies not to provide their services to illegal gambling websites. As no gambling website has yet been approved in the Netherlands, all of the sites which are operating are illegal. Paysquare, which provides Visa and Mastercard services in the Netherlands, has said that it does not provide services to illegal websites, but said that it would be difficult to stop the websites using card operators from abroad. Internet payment service Ideal said that it would ask its banks not to work with illegal websites, but said that they would be concerned about potential claims.
