France: Press web sites see advert turnover up 72.5%

Though web editions for dailies and magazines only represent 10% of the estimated EUR 683mn (US$ 1.06bn) online advertising revenue (TNS) , traditional French media sources that have expanded into web media, have seen their advertising revenue increase by 72.5% in the first quarter of 2008, according to a survey by Association pour la Promotion de la Presse Magazine (APPM).
Online dailies made EUR 33mn (US$ 51.01mn) in gross advertising revenue and magazine sites passed EUR 30mn (US$ 46.37mn) in gross advertising revenue. Women's online magazines led with EUR 10mn (US$ 15.46mn) and news-based magazines brought in EUR 9.3mn (US$ 14.37mn).
